Guard was a possibility but my friend already collects them and another is staring soon, yet I could get a small squad of guard with the Dark Angels.

Fair enough, currently I'm most tempted by the eldar's swooping hawks and the Dark Eldars Hellion's. I'm a bit obsessed with things that fly.

I know, I know. Is it true that it does instant kill on anything except Super Heavy? And that it can go through objects such as walls? Or is my friend just pulling my leg.
